1960’s Heuer Carrera ‘Dato 45’ Ref. 3147S

£6,850.00

The name ‘Carrera’ goes back to the Carrera Panamericana, a legendary car race through Mexico which means ‘race’ in Spanish.  Built for the automotive market, the ‘Dato 45’, with its 45 minute timing capability, was ideal for timing race stages that often lasted just under an hour.

Rarely encountered in this configuration and in such superb vintage condition, this beautiful example is a second execution Heuer Carrera ‘Dato 45’ Ref. 3147S dating to the late 1960’s.

The simple, yet slightly quirky design with the date window at 9 o’clock and the stunning bevelled case with elegant long geometric lugs make this a hugely desirable vintage piece.

The watch comes fully serviced and we have paired this silver ‘Dato 45’ with a beautiful light brown racing style strap with cream stitching which style perfectly with the watch to play both sporty and dressy at will.  Accompanying the watch is a modern ‘HEUER’ signed tang buckle that completes the package nicely.

Interesting fact:  The Heuer Carrera ‘Dato 45’ was one of the first chronographs to display the date in a window using a rotating disc underneath the dial.  Previously the date was indicated by a hand on the dial.
